Before you say hello
Are video calls on Sociooom free?
Yes. Creating an account, private messaging and one-to-one audio and video calls are free. Optional Premium features exist around games and punishments, but calling does not require them.
Are the calls really encrypted?
One-to-one call media uses end-to-end encryption, so the audio and video are encrypted on your device and decrypted on your friend's device. Account, contact and call-timing metadata are still visible to the service, and encryption cannot protect a device that is already compromised.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Sociooom runs in a modern browser on desktop and mobile. You only need to allow camera and microphone access when the browser asks.
Can I call more than one friend at once?
Personal calls are one-to-one. For several people at the same time, open a group video chat room where everyone joins with video and chat.
What if my friend is offline?
Send a message instead — it waits in the conversation. If they opted in to browser notifications, they get a native alert when you call or message.
